“This is the room that all the locals book. I couldn’t figure out why, so one day I decided to ask a guest. ‘I’ve walked past here a million times, and I just had to see what was behind these doors,’ he replied, as if it were obvious.
The doors in question do seem out of place, and yet also, entirely at home. 20 ft. tall, 100-year-old naval train station doors that are strangely aware of their size. Like everything and everyone else here, they’ve gained a new identity at our inn. And sometimes — stretched out on the couch or reclining on the patio — I daydream about all of the characters that have passed between them. And the ones that soon will.”

The Quirks
Because of the large windows and street-level location, you may experience light and noise at night; we wouldn’t recommend this room for light-sleepers

“The Rules”
Check-in: 3pm, Check-out: 11am
The Dutra does not allow smoking or pets in rooms and on the patios. (Though Pet Rocks are permitted.) If you choose to break “the rules,” we charge an extra cleaning fee. One necessary point about our patios: all are private, except for the common lawn on the fourth floor. It’s the one with the tiny tub, you can’t miss it.
We love parties, but for groups more than 2 or late nights (after 9pm), we ask that you check with us before you arrive. Our walls are a little thin, so your tap dancing, loud seances, bongos, and even your lively conversation can carry. The same goes for photo or film shoots. Please note that, in both cases, you may be charged an extra location or event fee.
